Background
The cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) contributes to gut-brain regulation of appetite and satiety. Peripheral CB1 activation is associated with appetite, energy storage and energy preservation, whereas CB1 antagonism produces opposing effects. This biology has made CB1 a research target in metabolic regulation.
